Aphids Giving Birth! Macro Photographs

February 22, 2016 by Jade Craven Leave a Comment

I was photographing insects in the backyard yesterday when I saw this aphid. It was less then half a centimetre long… and looked like it had something coming out of its butt.

I was fairly sure it was giving birth but I couldn’t quite tell. I tried to take as many photos as I could and hope that some of them were in focus and they turned out all right.

SUCCESS! They turned out better then expected. Look at the detail in the first one! Keep in mind that I don’t really understand what I’m doing and never really know whether or not something is in focus.

I’m hooked. I’m so hooked. Identifying the many species in my garden can wait, I just want to capture it all. It’s phenomenal.
