Balyang is Drying up

December 8, 2015 by Jade Craven Leave a Comment

Earlier this week, I was surprised to see a buff banded rail at Balyang. It was in the back reedy near near a drain – you can see what it looked like in the final image. This is close to where you come of the track from Princes Bridge.

There have been subtle changes in the past week. There were a lot of ducklings that hid in this area. Now, Australian ibis and spoonbills are visiting a lot more often.

It’s amazing how many things you notice when you force yourself to properly observe. I lived in Highton for 3 years and never paid any attention to how it changed. It’s brilliant.
