Today was a beautiful day for exploring. There was a solid low tide at 11am and it was cloudy. There has been a lot of rain and windy weather recently, so we decided to visit Bancoora Beach in the hope that something interesting would have washed up.
It was a solid trip but we didn’t find much with beachcombing. Most of the stuff we found as at the high tide level, with very little between the water and the level.
Bancoora is always worth visiting. The dark clouds made for some fantastic photos. The nerd in me would have preferred rockpools at low tide though 😉
Possibly dicathais ortbita
I initially thought this was another egg mass and the iNaturalist AI suggested this was Dicathais orbita. Another used suggested it could belong to the Botryocladia genus (macroalgae.)
I’m guessing that most of the below species are seaweeds of some description. I’m temporarily putting all sea plants on the too difficult list.
