Yes, you read it right. Sethy and I accidentally walked 2.5km of the rail trail. How was it accidental, you ask?
We had done the marine biology cruise. Part of the cost included free entry into the marine discovery centre. From memory, and the map, it was only 1km from Queenscliffe. That may have been true, based on a previous walk, but the harbour added extra distance. That, and we kept on getting distracted with everything we saw!
We got to the discovery centre about 10 minutes before it closed.
Will definitely return to visit the centre properly. And to get better photographs of this stretch of coast. It really is beautiful but these rushed photos don’t do it justice.
I had struggled at the property the day before after losing my phone, so dad offered to take us out to Barwon Heads. I was desperate to find the bluff, which is meant to be awesome for rockpools. I’m not sure we were in the proper area as we didn’t find much, but am very keen to return and explore it more in depth.
Yesterday, I went to Ocean Grove Nature Reserve with my nephew. My parents wanted to check out a market nearby and, naturally, I jumped at the opportunity to visit here. A previous trip had involved getting attacked by dozens of mosquitoes and I was keen to revisit and take my time.
Seth and I spent an hour exploring the Currawong track. It’s only meant to take 30 minutes, but can easily take up at least 3x that time if you are stopping and photographing everything. I’d have loved to have explored other tracks but had to stick to our time limit.
