We made a quick visit to Blanket Bay after visiting Maits Rest. It was a warm day and the tide was still high so we didn’t spend long here.
I really enjoyed it and am keen to return. I even saw fish in a deep rockpool, despite the tide being up. I haven’t seen this in any of the other rockpools; the fish are considerably smaller and hide during the day.
I am definitely returning for a proper explore at low tide. Just need to figure out the logistics!
We decided to visit Blanket Bay after Maits Rest. It was a warm day, so we quickly stopped at the entrance to the Cape Otway lighthouse to get some water.

We found two separate cowfish washed up along the beaches during this trip. This one was at Pirates Cove. The latter was at Castle Cove.

Dad stopped at this location for one reason: there was a Lake Craven and we were going to visit it! He didn’t tell us until we got there and the surprise was worth it, I though it was hilarious.
Technically these photos aren’t actually at Lake Craven but they were close enough. It is a beautiful area and one I hope to explore properly down the track. Was pretty awesome this trip to get a closer look at multiple locations I’d be visiting should I ever complete the Great Ocean Walk.
