This is from the genus Praxibulus. It is meant to be a very difficult genus to identify. Males can be told apart by their genitalia. On Facebook, Matthew Connors said “from range it is most likely P. duplex but could be P. tectatus.”
I didn’t get an ID for this one.
We were keen to visit the bush block to check whether the 50+mm of rain recorder at Meredith earlier in the week had made an impact. It hadn’t. Was still a fantastic trip. Someone was limited to yabbying for only 30 mins and we had one dog with us, which made it a lot easier for me to wander off. Everything still looked dry. Penny had a blast exploring.
I almost didn’t go on this trip. It was two days before Christmas and I was really sick with this cold that I couldn’t shake. I had phoned up to say that I wasn’t going to go because I was going to the Drs.
To cut an unnecessary story short, I didn’t have to wait as long for the doctor as I thought. I was able to go and have a bit of an explore.
