Darters: Still going strong

November 21, 2015 by Jade Craven Leave a Comment

These posts are probably getting tedious. Feel lucky – I could easily be doing daily updates. I’m *THAT* obsessed. Each visit, I check to make sure all three are still there.

As you can see, the features are growing quite strongly. Moreso on some birds then others. The adults are going further and further away from the nest. Last week, they’d stay further away on the same branch. Now they’ll go to a branch nearby where they can still keep an eye on them. The chicks are starting to explore little areas close to the nest.

They haven’t developed any markings that you would expect from a darter. I wonder if they undergo another plumage change before they fledge? 🙂 It’s so exiting!
