Mounts Bay After Beach Nourishment Works

149-IMG_5848

Erosion of the sand around Apollo Bay seems to be a popular theme on this blog. I’ve photographed the before and after effects of sand nourishment works multiple times. It never seems to be a long term solution; at most the sand lasts a couple of months before the next tidal surge. The sand is lost and, often, the ecosystem where they took the sand from is damaged.

It is really concerning and reeks of mismanagement. I visit 2-3 times a year on average and I can see that.

Hopefully their future plans will protect the area better.

You can read more about the works at Mounts Bay and Marengo beach nourishment works begin.
