Returning to Kennett River

February 4, 2014 by Jade Craven Leave a Comment

These photos are from 7/1/2014. This has been sitting as a draft for a while, as I had nothing really substantial to say. I still don’t. I made more progress with ID’ing and we had a huge day, which included glowworms. I would love to explore Kennett River in depth.

I’ve ID’ed this as a white naped honeyeater
unknown bird

I’m not 100% sure what this is, but after cross referencing this list of birds at Kennett River I’m leaning towards a thornbill. I think it is brown but it could be straited. I couldn’t get a clear enough view, nor have the knowledge currently.

(I checked, and this is a brown thornbill)

I’ve now googled enough about honeyeaters to know that this is a red wattlebird. We also saw little wattlebirds regularly at Apollo Bay! Was pretty awesome
