Second Attempt At Fungi Spore Prints

July 15, 2022 by Jade Craven

I was pretty excited after our first experiment with fungi spore prints. I had a lot of fun at the property collecting different types of fungi to see what type of spores we would get.

We could have gotten some awesome prints… except we didn’t.

It was the middle of winter, so I left the prints up for a couple of days. I had them in plastic containers in the lounge room.

I don’t know how to explain the results. The fungi were damp because it was winter. It looked like some of them had disintegrated. The spores looked like smudges. I’m guessing it is because the containers created a little glasshouse.

I dunno. I love photographing fungi, but collecting them takes away from the experience. I’m not sure I care enough about getting spore prints to continue these experiments.
