Social Bustard At Serendip Sanctuary

Yesterday, I went on a family trip to Serendip Sanctuary. We hadn’t gone out for ages and wanted to say g’day to some of our favourite wildlife.

It was different to normal. A lot of exhibits were closed and some had moved. The bustard was in the enclosure that had previously housed brolgas. This was disappointing; I’d photographed a young brolga here before and was hoping to document one growing up. It’s costly to get out to Serendip via taxis/public transport, so I had been waiting until I was more financial.

It was also awesome! The bustard enjoyed getting close to the path. All of these photos were taken on my iphone, which shows just how close it got. It was doing it’s breeding display, which was fascinating to witness up close.

Will definitely have to visit again with the proper camera.
