Teeny Weeny Darter Chicks: Again

January 22, 2016 by Jade Craven Leave a Comment

These photos were taken on January 17

Just before I went to Apollo Bay, I checked on the various nests at Princes Bridge. I found a clutch of darter chicks that were just days old. They were still hiding under the adult and weren’t really begging for food.

I know I’ve shared photos of this before, and it is a common site. However, I want to document as much as I can about the various nests. I dunno, all these notes and observations may be useful for citizen science one day. I’m not sure that this blog will ever take off, primarily because I focus obsessively on the same subjects. I certainly have the skill set but I get way too much enjoyment from monitoring the same sites. I can’t wait to do the summary at the end of the breeding season, however long away that is 🙂
