The darters have eggs!

December 22, 2015 by Jade Craven Leave a Comment

Two weeks ago, I shared the story of the darters mating. Last week, I noticed that they’d had eggs!

On the Saturday, I went down and see the female tidying up the nest. On the Sunday, I noticed that there was one egg. On Monday, there was two.

I don’t know if all eggs are conceived at the one time. Nor anything else about eggs. Other then that the actual colours are meant to be pale blue or pale blue green, except that there is lime over the surface which makes them appear dirty white.

Where does the lime come from? And, I’m not sure what colour the eggs are. They look white in some, but the shade makes them look bluing in others.
