We were that impressed with Killarney Beach that we decided to check out other nearby beaches. The next one we visited was South Beach.
Seth fell in love with this beach and for good reason. We didn’t have much luck with rockpooling; we got there two hours after low tide and rock hopping was quite tricky. I was careful and still fell over twice.
It was still a beautiful location. It was great for photography. It didn’t have as much washed up seaweed as other areas.
Alas, we didn’t get to explore any other beaches along this stretch of coast. We wanted to get to Port Fairy around lunch time. I made a mental note to explore this stretch properly on my next visit.
Unofficial Walking Path
At the end of the beach, Seth and I discovered a walking path. I was uncomfortable walking too far along it; it looking unofficial and I was concerned about damaging any of the nearby plants/animals.
I’ve since learned about a ‘Beaches Trail‘; a 75km walk from Petersborough to Port Fairy. This would have been awesome to learn about before hand is something I would like to do in the future. I’m not sure if this section is part of the trail.
