Walking At Maits Rest: Winter 2020

July 8, 2020 by Jade Craven

Maits Rest is one of our favourite places to visit when in Apollo Bay. It is more accessible than many of the other walks and has wider paths. You don’t know how important path width is until you are walking with an unnamed people who is terrified of leeches.

This had been an issue on a past visit to Melba Gully. The walk was great for fungi, but that doesn’t mean much if you can’t enjoy it.

This walk was thoroughly enjoyed, despite visiting in the middle of winter. There was only a couple of other families there due to the Coronavirus restrictions and lack of international tourists. This meant that we could take our time and properly explore. We were there for about 90 minutes and could have easily stayed for longer.

Very impressed with the track improvements and hope to return soon.
